Job Summary

OC Awning is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Industrial Seamstress to join our production team. This position focuses on fabricating, sewing, and repairing awnings, canopies, retractable awning covers, and other outdoor fabric products using commercial-grade materials and industrial sewing equipment.

This is not garment sewing. We are looking for someone with experience working with heavy-duty materials such as awning fabrics, marine canvas, upholstery, vinyl, tents, or similar products.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate awnings, canopies, valances, side panels, and other outdoor shade products.
• Sew, reinforce, and finish seams using industrial sewing machines.
• Repair and alter existing awnings and outdoor fabric products.
• Measure, cut, and prepare heavy fabrics for fabrication.
• Read and follow work orders, measurements, and production notes.
• Inspect finished products for quality, accuracy, and durability before they leave the shop.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
• Work collaboratively with the production team to meet deadlines while maintaining exceptional quality standards.

Qualifications

• Experience sewing heavy-duty materials such as awning fabric, marine canvas, upholstery, vinyl, tents, or similar commercial fabrics.
• Experience operating industrial sewing machines.
• Strong measuring skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to read and follow detailed work orders and measurements.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Reliable attendance and a strong work ethic.
• Experience working in a production or manufacturing environment is preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Sunbrella®, Tempotest®, or other outdoor performance fabrics.
• Experience fabricating awnings, marine canvas, or commercial outdoor products.
• Patterning or layout experience.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) is highly preferred.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to safely lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to move and handle large rolls of fabric and completed awnings.
• Ability to stand, bend, reach, and work at sewing tables for extended periods.
• Ability to use hands and arms continuously while operating industrial sewing equipment.
• Comfortable working in a production/shop environment.

Pay: $20.00 - $32.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 per week
