We are seeking an experienced RN Clinical Director who is passionate about delivering high-quality patient care while leading and developing an exceptional clinical team. This role is ideal for a hands-on nurse leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys solving problems, and is committed to maintaining the highest standards of clinical excellence.
Hours: Monday through Friday 8am-4:30pm.
Position Summary
The RN Clinical Director partners with the Regional Branch Manager and Owner/Operator to oversee clinical operations across five BrightStar Care territories throughout the Kansas City Metro.
This position is a unique blend of clinical leadership and direct patient care, with approximately:
- 50% Field-Based: Start of Care assessments, supervisory visits, reassessments, competencies, and clinical support.
- 50% Office-Based: Quality assurance, compliance, audits, staff development, coaching, and performance management.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, self-motivated, and able to balance multiple priorities while maintaining exceptional attention to detail and ensuring outstanding patient outcomes.
What You’ll Do
Clinical Leadership
- Lead and support a team of nurses and caregivers through coaching, mentoring, and ongoing education.
- Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and clinical excellence.
- Provide performance coaching and participate in employee evaluations.
- Assist with recruitment, onboarding, competency validation, and retention of clinical staff.
Clinical Operations
- Conduct Start of Care assessments, reassessments, supervisory visits, and competency evaluations.
- Develop, review, and update individualized plans of care.
- Ensure accurate, timely, and compliant clinical documentation.
- Review physician orders and maintain regulatory compliance.
Quality & Compliance
- Oversee clinical quality assurance through chart audits, documentation reviews, and incident investigations.
- Ensure compliance with Joint Commission, state, and federal regulations.
- Lead preparation for Joint Commission and state surveys.
- Monitor patient safety initiatives and implement corrective action plans when necessary.
Performance & Data Management
- Track and analyze key clinical performance indicators including:
- Timeliness of documentation
- Patient outcomes
- Compliance metrics
- Quality indicators
- Staff competencies
- Use data to identify trends, improve processes, and drive operational excellence.
Specialized Clinical Support
Skilled Nursing Services
- Pediatric ventilator and tracheostomy care
- G-tube management
- Seizure management
- Infusion and IV therapy
- Venipuncture
- Workers' Compensation cases
- Medication management and skilled nursing interventions
- Infection prevention and control
- Wound care and wound vac management
Non-Skilled Home Care Services
- Provide clinical oversight, caregiver training, and care plan development for clients receiving:
- Companion care
- Personal care and activities of daily living (ADL) assistance
- Alzheimer's and dementia care
- Respite care
- Transportation and escort services
- Meal preparation and nutrition support
- Mobility assistance and fall prevention
- Safety supervision and wellness checks
- Ensure all care plans are individualized, clinically appropriate, and aligned with each client's goals while supporting caregivers with ongoing education, supervision, and best practices.
Additional Responsibilities
- Provide after hours support to the admin team if needed if they run into clinical questions while they are on call
- Collaborate with leadership to achieve agency goals and strategic initiatives.
- Travel throughout the Kansas City Metro to support patients and staff.

Qualifications
- Current unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in both Kansas and Missouri.
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing preferred.
- Minimum of three years of clinical nursing experience.
- At least one year of experience in home health, private duty nursing, infusion therapy, or acute care strongly preferred.
- Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
- Strong IV therapy and venipuncture skills.
- Excellent understanding of infection prevention and control practices.
- Experience interpreting and utilizing clinical performance metrics and quality indicators.
- Outstanding communication, documentation, organizational, and time-management skills.
- Reliable transportation and the ability to travel daily throughout the Kansas City Metro.
