Position Overview:

The Mortgage Loan Processor is responsible for managing mortgage loan files from application through closing. You will work closely with loan officers, underwriters, title companies, and customers to ensure all documentation is complete, accurate, and compliant with bank policies and investor requirements. This role is based in-person at our Manhattan office and requires strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities

• File Management: Collect, review, and verify loan application data, credit reports, income/asset documentation, and property information to ensure file accuracy and completeness.
• Third-Party Coordination: Order and track appraisals, title insurance, hazard and flood insurance, credit reports, and verifications of employment and deposit (VOEs, VODs).
• Loan Submission: Prepare and submit loan files to underwriting, monitor outstanding conditions and facilitate timely documentation clearance.
• Communication: Serve as a key point for contact for loan officers, underwriters, title companies, and borrowers to clarify requirements and resolve issues promptly.
• Compliance & Documentation: Ensure loan files comply with regulatory requirements (TRID, RESPA, HMDA) and bank policies; maintain thorough and organized records for audit readiness.
• Closing Support: Coordinate preparation of closing documents, funding procedures, and recording activities; follow up on any post-closing documentation.
• Reporting Assistance: Support regulatory reporting efforts such as HMDA and Call Report preparation as needed.
• Customer Service: Provide professional and courteous service reflecting the bank’s commitment to personalized support and community values.

Skills & Qualifications

• Experience: 2-4 years of mortgage loan processing experience preferred.
• Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with loan origination software (e.g. Encompass) and electronic document management systems; knowledge of DU/LP underwriting systems a plus.
• Regulatory Knowledge: Understanding of TRID, RESPA, HMDA, and other mortgage-related regulations.
• Organizational Skills: Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple loan files efficiently and meet deadlines.
• Communication: Clear, professional communication skills with a collaborative, team-oriented approach.
• Customer Focus: Dedication to delivering outstanding customer service consistent with our values.
• Education: High school diploma or GED required; associate or bachelor’s degree preferred.
