Campus Recreation is an important part of the Georgia Tech campus community. Our mission is to champion health and well-being through dynamic and transformative experiences. Campus Recreation provides state-of-the art facilities and equipment, a variety of programs, services, and events through aquatics programs, fitness classes and programs, competitive sports, and outdoor recreation. Through each position, student employees will gain vital career readiness skills such as time management, effective written and verbal communication, teamwork, customer service, critical thinking, and interpersonal relationship building.
Job Summary
The climbing wall staff are responsible for the overall operation of the climbing wall area including checking climbers in, belaying climbers, teaching climbing classes, monitoring climbers for safety, as well as the maintenance of the wall area including keep the gear and equipment clean and organized.
Responsibilities
Ensure all climbers have checked in and signed waivers
Belay climbers as they ascend the wall
Teach climbing classes
Monitor climbers for safety
Perform basic maintenance and cleaning of the wall and equipment
Provide service excellence to all patrons
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
High school diploma, GED Certificate or Vocational School Diploma
Required Experience
Up to two years of job related experience
First-Aid/AED/CPR certification (or ability to obtain certification within 60 days of employment)
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Basic computer knowledge and skills
Must collaborate and work well with all areas of the department
Strong problem-solving skills
Must work well without direct supervision
Must stay up to date with policies and events
