We are a public accounting and tax firm located in Colorado Springs, Colorado. We specialize in serving small business owners and individual taxpayers through a combination of tax preparation, tax planning, bookkeeping, sales tax compliance, and payroll services.
We are seeking an experienced accounting professional who enjoys helping individuals and small business owners understand their financial information and make informed decisions.
The ideal candidate knows how bookkeeping, business finances, and tax issues relate. They can review accounting records, identify issues, assist bookkeeping staff, communicate effectively with clients, and develop proactive tax planning strategies.

Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of tax preparation experience, including Forms 1040, 1065 and 1120-S.
- Minimum of 7 years of public accounting experience
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
- Experience preparing tax projections and providing proactive tax planning services
- Strong bookkeeping experience and understanding of the complete accounting cycle
- Extensive QuickBooks Online experience
- Colorado sales tax experience required, including preparation and review of multi-jurisdiction sales tax filings
- Experience in year-end procedures including 1099 filing for contract laborers, reconciling payroll, adjusting journal entries and supporting documents.
- Experience reviewing financial statements and identifying accounting errors, discrepancies, and areas requiring adjustment
- Experience reviewing the work of others and providing constructive feedback
- Proven ability to engage in direct communication with clients.
- EA designation is a plus but not required
- CPA licensure is not required. Candidates pursuing CPA licensure should be aware that this position is not structured to satisfy CPA supervision requirements for licensure purposes.
Responsibilities
- Prepare Individual, Partnership, and S Corporation tax returns
- Thoroughly review and self-check tax returns, workpapers, and supporting schedules for completeness, accuracy, and reasonableness prior to final review
- Prepare tax projections and identify tax planning opportunities for clients
- Review bookkeeping and accounting records for accuracy and completeness
- Assist bookkeeping staff with troubleshooting, training, and procedures
- Prepare and post adjusting journal entries as necessary
- Prepare month and year end financial statements for businesses
- Prepare and review Colorado sales tax filings, including multi-jurisdiction filings
- Assist clients with sales tax registration, compliance, and reporting questions
- Communicate directly with clients regarding tax, bookkeeping, payroll, sales tax, and accounting matters
- Research of tax related matters
- Maintain organized and complete workpapers
Public Accounting Experience Is Required
This position requires public accounting experience.
Experience working exclusively as an internal accountant for a single organization generally does not provide the breadth of experience necessary for this role. The successful candidate must be comfortable managing multiple clients, balancing competing deadlines, adapting to changing tax laws, and providing advisory services to business owners.
Technology Experience
Strong working knowledge of:
- QuickBooks Online
- Microsoft Excel, including formulas, reconciliations, data analysis, and report preparation
- Microsoft 365
- Tax preparation software
- Tax planning and projection software
- Practice management software
- Secure document management systems
Experience with Lacerte is a plus.

Work Environment
This is a full-time, in-office position located in Colorado Springs.
We believe collaboration, training, mentorship, client service, and professional development are most effective when our team works together in person.

- Limited hybrid flexibility may be considered only after trust has been established and performance expectations have consistently been met
- Any hybrid flexibility is generally limited to weekend work during busy periods
- During tax season, team members should expect to work approximately 50–55 hours per week, including regular Saturday work
- This is an hourly position and overtime compensation is paid in accordance with applicable laws
- Candidates must be willing to work additional hours when necessary to meet client deadlines and firm commitments
