Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Program Manager to lead a portfolio of complex engineered-to-order programs involving machining, custom fabrication and welding assemblies. This role provides strategic leadership across multiple concurrent customer programs from RFQ and contract review through engineering, procurement, fabrication, installation, customer acceptance, and warranty support.
The ideal candidate is a proactive communicator, strong problem solver, and accountable leader who can coordinate Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality, Safety, Sales, vendors, and customers to keep projects moving forward. The Senior Program Manager owns overall program performance, customer satisfaction, financial results, schedule execution, resource alignment, and continuous improvement. Unlike a traditional project manager focused on individual jobs, this position establishes governance, prioritizes resources across programs, mentors Project Managers and Coordinators, and partners with executive leadership to ensure predictable, profitable execution.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Provide executive oversight for a portfolio of engineered-to-order manufacturing programs.
- Serve as the executive customer interface for key accounts and complex contracts.
- Lead program strategy from RFQ and estimating through contract review, kickoff, engineering fabrication, installation, closeout, and lessons learned.
- Balance engineering, fabrication, welding, machining, assembly, finishing, logistics, and field installation resources across multiple programs.
- Develop portfolio-level KPIs, dashboards, capacity plans, and executive reporting.
- Establish program governance including risk registers, change management, schedule recovery, and financial reviews.
- Partner with Engineering to ensure designs meet customer requirements, manufacturability, structural integrity, OSHA/ANSI expectations, and installation requirements.
- Partner with Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality, and Operations to optimize throughput, material availability, and on-time delivery.
- Drive program profitability through scope control, forecasting, earned value/job-cost awareness, and change order management.
- Standardize project management processes, templates, and best practices across the organization.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives supporting ISO 9001, Lean Manufacturing, ERP data integrity, and operational excellence.
- Coach and mentor Project Managers, Project Coordinators, and cross-functional leaders.
- Provide executive-level communications to customers and company leadership.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Business, Project Management, or related field.
- 10+ years leading complex engineered-to-order manufacturing programs.
- 5 years experience managing project/program managers
- Experience with custom structural metal, mezzanines, maintenance stands, industrial platforms, aerospace ground support equipment, or similar fabricated products.
- Demonstrated leadership of cross-functional engineering and manufacturing organizations.
- Strong knowledge of estimating, contracts, engineering release, planning/scheduling, fabrication, welding, machining, assembly, installation, ERP/MRP systems, and quality management.
- Excellent executive communication, negotiation, customer relationship, and leadership skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, project scheduling tools, ERP/MRP systems, SharePoint, and project tracking/reporting tools; experience with MS Project, Smartsheet, SolidWorks, or similar tools preferred.
- Excellent communication, leadership, organization, problem-solving, negotiation, and customer relationship skills.
- U.S. Citizen or Green Card required.
Preferred Qualifications/Skills:
- PMP, PgMP, or equivalent certification.
- Experience with ISO 9001, AWS, OSHA, ANSI, and structural fabrication standards.
- Experience managing multi-million-dollar engineered manufacturing programs.
- Experience managing government, defense, aerospace, or customer-restricted projects requiring background checks or site access controls.
- Experience implementing Lean, KPI dashboards, AI-enabled business tools, and digital transformation initiatives.
- Strong understanding of machining, welding, fabrication, assembly, inspection, and engineered-to-order product delivery.
