$140,000 – $180,000 + Bonus | Hybrid - 9/80 Schedule | Minimal Travel
Overview
***This is an IN PERSON position located in Irvine, California. Remote Monday & Friday, In Office Tuesday - Thursday***
We are seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to support the development of advanced aerospace systems, with a strong focus on research, innovation, and new product development. This role blends electrical and mechanical system expertise with hands-on testing, modeling, and system-level analysis across the full engineering lifecycle.
You will play a key role in bringing new ideas to life—not just maintaining legacy systems, working from concept through validation and production support.
Key Responsibilities
- Support research & technology initiatives, contributing fresh design concepts and system improvements
- Lead activities across the full systems engineering lifecycle, including requirements, modeling, integration, and validation
- Develop and manage system requirements, including traceability and documentation
- Execute the Verification & Validation (V&V) cycle, including test planning and execution
- Perform system modeling and simulation using tools such as MATLAB, Simulink, and Cameo (MBSE)
- Conduct failure investigations, review field/test data, and perform root cause corrective action (RCCA) analysis
- Test and troubleshoot electro-mechanical units in a lab environment, including component-level replacement and validation
- Generate detailed engineering reports and documentation to support analysis, testing, and certification
- Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, quality, and program teams to resolve technical issues
- Support system integration, interface definition, and compliance with customer and regulatory requirements
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, Systems, or related)
- 15+ years of experience in aerospace systems engineering (electro-mechanical focus)
- Strong experience in:
- New product development and system design
- Failure analysis and RCCA
- Verification & Validation (V&V) processes
- Requirements development and documentation
- Hands-on experience with:
- MATLAB / Simulink
- Cameo or similar MBSE tools
- Requirements management tools (DOORS or similar)
- Proven ability to test, troubleshoot, and analyze hardware in a lab environment
- Strong technical writing and documentation skills
Tools & Systems
- Required: MATLAB, Simulink, Jira, Confluence, Microsoft Word, Excel
- Preferred: Cameo (MBSE), DOORS or similar
Nice to Have
- Experience with Fault Tree Analysis (FTA)
- Familiarity with aerospace standards (ARP, DO-160, etc.)
- Spanish or French language skills
