Senior Electrical Engineer
Optical Zonu Corp. is a leader in the RF-Over-Fiber telecommunication market, developing whole system solutions. We have a modest engineering team that designs, manufactures, assembles, and tests these systems in house.
<Company Benefits>
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to design, development, and maintain our line of RF-Over-Fiber communication systems. While our products operate in the RF, this role focuses on the design of high-performance digital, signal integrity, and low-noise analog and power, control system circuitry.
The ideal candidate combines technical expertise, strong engineering discipline, and practical understanding of electrical engineering lifecycle, design for manufacturing, and will work closely with our firmware, mechanicals, RF engineers, manufacturing and test counterparts. As a small company, our engineers wear many hats, so a good candidate will be adaptable and proactive. Beyond technical design responsibilities, this engineer will help elevate engineering standards, develop processes, documentation, quality, and participate in collaborative engineering across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
· Own the circuit architecture, design, analysis, and validation of complex electronic hardware systems
· Perform component selection, produce schematics, PCB Layout, and production drawings using Altium Designer
· Circuit designs will include switching and linear power supplies, low-noise analog, high-speed digital, with reliability, thermal performance, and cost optimizations
· Perform hardware bring-up, troubleshooting, analysis, and resolution of signal and power integrity, EMI/EMC/ESD, thermal, and reliability challenges
· Continuation Engineering of the existing product line, including interfacing with manufacturing partners to support production transfer, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement initiatives
· Drive design-for-manufacturing (DFM), design-for-test (DFT), and design-for-reliability (DFR) practices throughout the product life cycle
· Participate in developing, documenting, execution, and elevating our validation, and testing deliverables and workflows
Qualifications
· Minimum bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related discipline
· 10+ Years of experience developing commercial electronic products in a manufacturing environment
· Demonstrated expertise in schematic capture, PCB development, and electronic hardware debugging
· Experience in digital and analog design, EMI, EMC, ESD protection, grounding, and low-noise techniques
· Experience with test and measurement equipment: oscilloscopes, meters; spectrum analyzers. BERT and Signal Analyzers are a plus.
· Proven success taking products from concept through manufacturing and production release, including manufacturing and production support
· Ability to perform root-cause analysis and solve complex hardware issues
· Excellent organizational, documentation, and communication skills, transferring knowledge from engineering to non-technical parties like production and sales
Desired Personal Attributes
· Strong Systems-Thinking mindset with attention to detail
· Highly organized and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously
· Practical, hands-on engineer who enjoys laboratory work and troubleshooting
· Dirven to improve engineering quality, documentation, and development processes
· Collaborative team player who works effectively across hardware, firmware, manufacturing, and operations teams, but also challenges the status quo
· Capable of providing technical leadership and influencing engineering excellence without direct authority, including mentoring other engineers
