JOB DUTIES
- Provide physical therapy services to home health pediatric patients under the direction and supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist (PT).
- Assist in assessing the rehabilitative and functional status of the patient by implementing the plan of care developed by the PT.
- Regularly monitor and report the patient’s response to treatment and progress toward established goals to the supervising PT.
- Observe and document changes in the patient's condition and report any concerns or significant findings to the PT for further evaluation or plan of care adjustments.
- Implement therapeutic interventions to address deficits such as muscle strength, coordination, mobility, gait, and range of motion, as outlined in the PT’s plan of care.
- Assist in evaluating the safety and appropriateness of the home environment for therapy and functional mobility.
- Follow infection control and safety protocols in compliance with OSHA standards to protect both the patient and healthcare staff.
- Collaborate with other members of the care team and communicate effectively with the supervising PT, physicians, and family members to ensure continuity of care.
- Demonstrate ongoing professional growth and competency through participation in in-service training and continuing education.
- Support the PT in the supervision and guidance of other therapy personnel as directed, in accordance with state regulations.
- Uphold and promote the agency's philosophy and administrative policies to maintain high standards of care.
- Provide compassionate, clear, and respectful communication to patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Graduate of an accredited Diploma, with Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctorate degree
- One year of experience as a Physical Therapist Assistant in a pediatric clinical care setting preferred
- Pediatric Home health experience preferred
- Reliable transportation
- Current Texas State license as a Physical Therapist Assistant
