New York Workers' Compensation Defense Attorney
Bedoya & Hussain Law Firm, LLC Remote Position with Initial In-Person Onboarding in Paramus, New Jersey.
Salary: $120,000–$140,000, plus bonus opportunity
Bedoya & Hussain Law Firm is hiring an experienced New York workers' compensation defense attorney who can independently manage a caseload from assignment through resolution.
This is not an entry-level litigation role and it is not a position for someone who needs to be reminded to move cases, meet deadlines, or update clients. We are looking for an attorney who already understands how to manage New York workers' compensation matters, communicate with carriers and employers, and keep cases moving without constant partner oversight.
The right candidate will inherit an existing caseload and should be comfortable stepping into active files, identifying what needs to happen next, and taking ownership of the work.
You do the work because the work needs to be done, not because someone is checking.
What You'll Do
What We're Looking For
We value confidence, but not overconfidence. We are looking for someone who knows the work, understands the importance of preparation, and does not confuse independence with operating without structure.
How We Work
Our attorneys are given meaningful autonomy over their cases and strategy. We do not micromanage competent people, and we do not believe good lawyering requires routinely working nights and weekends.
The expectation is straightforward. Meet deadlines, communicate clearly, move cases forward, produce strong work, and be accountable for your list.
Attorneys have access to experienced senior-level guidance, regular case discussions, and one-on-one support when needed. You will also have a dedicated paralegal, allowing you to focus more of your time on legal work, client strategy, and case resolution.
Our monthly billable requirement is 150 hours which is well below the industry standard of 175.
Remote Work
This is a fully remote position after onboarding.
Candidates may live anywhere, but must be able to complete an initial in-person onboarding period at our Paramus, New Jersey office. This allows us to train you on our clients, systems, expectations, and approach before you transition to remote work.
New York workers' compensation hearings are currently conducted virtually.
Compensation and Benefits
The higher end of the compensation range is intended for attorneys who already have meaningful New York workers' compensation defense experience and can immediately take ownership of an active caseload.
Why BHL
We are a growing defense firm that represents insurance carriers, third-party administrators, and employers throughout New York.
Our culture is professional but not formal. We take client service and legal work seriously, but we do not believe attorneys need to sacrifice every evening and weekend to be successful. When people do strong work, communicate well, and stay ahead of their cases, they are trusted to do their jobs.
This position is a strong fit for an attorney who is tired of high-volume defense practice, unnecessary micromanagement, or environments where good work is rewarded with nothing more than additional files.
It is not a good fit for someone who waits to be told what to do, treats client updates as an afterthought, or relies on others to manage their deadlines.
If you know how to run a New York workers' compensation defense caseload and want the autonomy, support, and flexibility to do the work well, we would love to hear from you.
