Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Laser Operator to join our team in a steel manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating and maintaining laser cutting machines in a steel manufacturing environment. This role involves producing precision-cut steel components based on specifications, interpreting blueprints and technical drawings, and ensuring high-quality output. Success in this position requires strong attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and a solid understanding of manufacturing processes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Set up, operate, and adjust laser cutting machines to cut steel sheets, plates, and other metal components as per job requirements.
• Load and unload steel materials onto the laser cutting machine safely and efficiently.
• Interpret and follow technical drawings, blueprints, and work orders to ensure accurate cutting.
• Inspect finished parts using calipers, micrometers, and other measuring tools to ensure they meet required tolerances and quality standards.
• Perform routine maintenance on laser cutting equipment, including cleaning, lens inspection, and replacing consumables as needed.
• Make necessary program adjustments using CNC controls to optimize cutting performance and efficiency.
• Identify and resolve machine errors or malfunctions to minimize downtime.
• Follow all safety protocols, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to company safety guidelines.
• Work closely with production supervisors, engineers, and quality control teams to meet production goals and deadlines.

Qualifications & Skills:

• 1-3 years of experience operating a laser cutting machine in a manufacturing environment, preferably in steel fabrication.
• Familiarity with CNC programming and laser cutting software (e.g., Trumpf, Bystronic, Amada, Mazak, or similar brands).
• Able to lift 25 lbs, stand for extended periods, and work in a physically demanding industrial environment.
• Experience with nesting software to optimize material usage preferred
• Knowledge of different types of steel preferred
• Basic fabrication experience is a plus preferred
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
