POSITION DESCRIPTION
Senior Analyst,
Investment Data & Technology
Charlotte, NC · Full-time, on-site ·
For nearly four decades, Linden Thomas & Company has built one of the nation’s most recognized independent private wealth practices — honored more than 30 times by Barron’s, Forbes, Financial Times, and The Business Journals. We bring institutional-grade strategy, direct securities ownership, and disciplined research to sophisticated, high-net-worth clients.
We are evolving how that work gets done. This role sits at the intersection of investment analysis and technology: a person who understands markets and portfolios, and who can also build the data infrastructure, workflow tools, and AI-driven processes that let a lean team operate like a much larger one. You will work directly with the founder and managing principal, as well as the Head of Asset Management with visibility into nearly every operational and investment function of the firm.
THE ROLE
What You’ll Build & Own
- Workflow tooling. Design, build, and maintain internal tools and automations that streamline investment research, portfolio analysis, trading operations, and client reporting — replacing manual, spreadsheet-bound processes with durable systems.
- Financial data & databases. Structure, query, and maintain the firm’s financial data — integrating feeds from custodians, market-data providers, and internal records into clean, queryable sources the whole team can rely on.
- Agentic AI workflows. Develop and deploy AI and agentic workflows that accelerate research, document generation, portfolio diagnostics, and recurring operational tasks — with sound judgment about where automation belongs and where it doesn’t.
- Investment research & portfolio analysis. Conduct research and portfolio analysis across individual securities, separately managed accounts, and index strategies; evaluate client and prospective-client holdings to surface inefficiencies, hidden costs, and allocation gaps.
- Proprietary strategy support. Support the development and oversight of the firm’s proprietary equity and fixed-income strategies with quantitative analysis, screening, and performance measurement.
- Reporting & thought leadership. Contribute to white papers, monthly market updates, and client-facing materials — including automated reporting and data visualization — and place equity and fixed-income trades as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
What You Bring
- Technical capability. A demonstrated track record working with financial data and databases (e.g., SQL) and building workflow tools or automations. Comfort with Python or a similar language is a strong plus.
- Applied AI fluency. Hands-on experience leveraging AI — ideally agentic AI — to do real work, with an instinct for designing reliable, well-scoped automated processes.
- Markets background. An investment management or banking background is ideal, paired with a solid understanding of the needs of sophisticated, high-net-worth investors.
- Analytical rigor. High intellectual curiosity and genuine interest in research, investment strategy, and process improvement.
- Core tools. High proficiency with Excel; experience with platforms such as Morningstar, FactSet, or Zephyr StyleAdvisor is preferable.
- Collaboration. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills, and the adaptability to take on new responsibilities in a fast-paced, in-office environment.
- Licensing. Series 7 and 66 (or the ability to obtain them within an agreed timeframe), consistent with trading and advisory responsibilities.
A PLUS, NOT A PREREQUISITE
Preferred
- CFA charter (or progress toward it) or an advanced degree — valued, but not required.
- Experience designing data pipelines, dashboards, or reporting systems in a financial setting.
- Prior exposure to portfolio accounting, custodial, or order-management systems.
