Position Overview:
The Field Install Technician serves as the on-site Pella product and installation expert, ensuring projects are completed to Pella quality standards and delivering exceptional customer experience. This role is responsible for completing final installation tasks, including installing screens, hardware, and accessories, making product adjustments, and verifying proper operation of all windows and doors.
The Field Install Technician conducts final walkthroughs with homeowners, educates customers on product operation and care, and addresses any questions or concerns. The technician also identifies and documents any outstanding issues, submits detailed service tickets to the Service Department, and helps ensure a seamless transition from installation to service when needed.
Success in this role requires strong product knowledge, attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and a commitment to quality workmanship and customer satisfaction. Assigned duties may vary based on business needs.
Responsibilities and Accountabilities
- Responsible for the timely and accurate execution of the VIP process
- Take and record precise field measurements and verify all product specifications
- Utilize systems such as PQM and OMS to confirm measurements, product details, and order requirements at the customer’s home
- Perform job site inspections to assess conditions such as water intrusion, rot, mold, or structural concerns
- Confirm job-site readiness and suitability for VIP installation; collaborate with homeowners to resolve any identified issues
- Clearly communicate installation processes and set realistic expectations with homeowners
- Serve as a professional and reputable company representative on all job sites, ensuring excellent customer experience
- Work collaboratively with Sales, Project Coordinators, and Installation teams to ensure seamless project close out
- Assist in developing recovery plans for projects when job site or product discrepancies are identified
- Support installation teams by delivering missing materials or products to job sites to improve first-time completion rates
- Perform installation recovery work when required to resolve post-installation issues
- Assist with managing Order Verification and recovery schedules to promote efficiency and balanced workloads
- Assess quality of sub-contracted installations and provide feedback to management as needed
- Provide training and guidance to Retail Sales Consultants or other team members as needed
- Maintain assigned company vehicles and assist in auditing maintenance of fleet vehicles
- Properly use, maintain, and store company-provided tools and equipment
- Follow all company safety requirements, including maintaining a clean work environment, using appropriate safety equipment, and reporting safety concerns
- Perform additional tasks as assigned in support of company goals and customer satisfaction
Requirements:

Education and/or Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 2–3 years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Prior knowledge of general construction practices, window and door applications, or building components required
- Experience using power tools (table saw, circular saw, miter saw, pneumatic nail gun, drill, etc.) required
Computer Skills
- Basic computer proficiency required
- Ability to learn and utilize company software (PQM, OMS, POETS, Outlook, etc.)

Compensation / Plan
- Starting Rate: $22–$26 per hour (depending on qualifications)
