Parenting the Spectrum places tutors with autistic and special-needs families to teach reading, writing, and math. The instruction is skill-targeted, aligned with ABA principles, and built around each student's IEP. This is a 1099 contractor role with flexible hours, part-time or full-time, in the Pensacola area in person or virtual nationwide.

Most tutoring jobs put you on Wyzant or Varsity Tutors and let you fend for yourself. This one doesn't. We bring you the families. We invoice through the Florida scholarship. You teach.

• You set the schedule. Tell us the hours that work for you and we match families to your availability. Part-time or full-time, both work.
• No client acquisition. We don't ask you to market yourself. Families come to us. We onboard you and place you.
• Scholarship invoicing handled. Most of our families pay through Florida's Family Empowerment Scholarship (FES-UA). We handle the invoicing through Step Up For Students. You get paid by us.
• Curriculum and training included. Our instruction is aligned with ABA principles and practices: clear prompts, reinforcement schedules, errorless teaching, visual structure. We train you on the curriculum. You don't have to invent it.

Who we're looking for

Must-haves:

• Teaching experience (classroom, tutoring, or therapy setting)
• Comfortable working with autistic and special-needs students
• A reliable schedule, even if flexible. Autism families need predictability.
• Strong written communication with parents (we email a lot)
• Eligible to work in the US as a 1099 contractor

Nice-to-haves:

• ESE, SPED, or Special Education credential or certification
• ABA experience (you've worked with a BCBA, run behavior plans)
• Florida residency (makes FES-UA provider eligibility easier)
• Bilingual (Spanish especially helpful)
• Comfortable with reading interventions (Orton-Gillingham, Wilson, and similar)

Education and experience

• Bachelor's degree preferred, not required
• Minimum 1 year of teaching, tutoring, or therapy experience

How the process works
