Job Summary

We are seeking a mid-level to senior Plumbing Design Engineer to join our team. This role is ideal for an engineer who is ready to take ownership of projects, lead plumbing system design, and work directly with clients and project teams on institutional facilities.

Our firm provides mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection engineering services for K-12 schools, higher education campuses, and healthcare facilities throughout New York State. We work on a wide range of projects that require thoughtful, practical building system solutions.

This position offers the opportunity for an engineer who enjoys leading plumbing design and managing their own projects while collaborating closely with architects, owners, and other engineering disciplines. As a mid-sized consulting engineering firm, our team members have the ability to take real ownership of their work, contribute to design decisions, and grow professionally while working alongside experienced mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection engineers.

Responsibilities

• Lead plumbing system design for institutional and commercial projects.
• Design systems including domestic water, sanitary, storm, natural gas, and specialty plumbing systems.
• Manage plumbing scope from schematic design through construction administration.
• Prepare construction documents, specifications, and technical calculations.
• Coordinate with mechanical, electrical, and fire protection engineers.
• Participate in meetings with architects, owners, and contractors.
• Review submittals, RFIs, and shop drawings during construction.
• Mentor junior engineers and designers

Qualifications

• Professional Engineer (PE) or Certified Plumbing Designer (CPD).
• 6–12+ years of plumbing design experience in a consulting engineering (A/E) firm.
• Experience preparing construction documents and specifications.
• Experience with K-12 schools, higher education, or healthcare facilities strongly preferred.
• Certified Medical Gas Designer (ASSE 6060) a plus.
• Experience using Revit and AutoCAD preferred.
• Strong communication and project coordination skills

Pay: From $90,000.00 per year
