Duties

• Thoroughly clean, disinfect, and sterilize surgical instruments and medical equipment following strict protocols and manufacturer guidelines
• Inspect instruments for damage or defects, ensuring all tools are in optimal condition before use
• Manage inventory levels by accurately tracking supplies, ordering replacements, and organizing sterilized items for easy access
• Maintain detailed records of sterilization cycles, equipment maintenance, and inventory logs to ensure compliance with regulatory standards
• Adhere to strict aseptic techniques during processing to prevent contamination and ensure patient safety
• Collaborate with surgical teams to prepare necessary instruments and supplies for upcoming procedures
• Follow all safety procedures related to handling biohazardous materials and contaminated equipment

Skills

• Strong knowledge of sterile processing procedures and infection control standards
• Excellent understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology relevant to surgical instruments
• Proficiency in inventory management systems for tracking supplies and sterilized items
• Ability to apply aseptic techniques accurately during instrument cleaning and sterilization processes
• Familiarity with sterilization equipment such as autoclaves, ultrasonic cleaners, and sterilizers
• Attention to detail to identify instrument defects or contamination risks effectively
• Good communication skills to coordinate with surgical teams and other healthcare staff
