KEAR Civil Corporation is seeking a Project Engineer / Assistant Project Manager to add to our fuel construction services group.
Job Description
The Construction Project Engineer is an individual who provides the knowledge and skill to support Project Management and/or Field Operations in performing the technical aspects of managing construction projects. The Construction Project Engineer supports the project management process by performing tasks such as processing shop drawings, handling the work flow of RFI’s, document control, change management, outsourcing, estimating, scheduling and other related activities.
Responsibilities
- Support the Project Manager, Superintendent and/or other management roles in the construction process throughout all phases of the life-cycle of a project to include estimating, negotiation, contracting, buyout, construction administration and closeout of projects
- Create, update and maintain a variety of project controls that track the status of: individual projects, changes to projects, RFI, shop drawings and submittal matters involving quality controls, safety, financial performance, close-out and other aspects of the projects
- Work with subject matter experts to create, review and process shop drawings and other submittals that are required to document the construction process
- Support the change management process, by updating logs, routing source documents to vendors, obtaining pricing, developing estimates and proposals, writing change orders and other related activities
- Support the estimating process by performing quantity surveys utilizing digitizers and paper based processes that obtain and summarize scope and quantities of work
- Establish, monitor, communicate and maintain project schedules utilizing P6
- Support the PM in negotiating contracts, subcontracts and purchase orders
- Maintain and regularly produce reports utilizing contractor and client specific workflow software
- Proactively identify issues that could lead to problems and facilitate solutions
- Develop an understanding of how to maintain and require compliance with all contract terms and legal requirements that govern the project to prevent rework and delays
- Participate in managing activities that are related to project closeout to ensure timely completion
Job Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
- B.S. degree in Engineering or Construction Management, or five years of direct construction experience (candidates working toward a degree will also be considered).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Solid understanding of construction means and methods.
- Proficiency with spreadsheets, email, and industry-related software, including Procore and Bluebeam.
- Familiarity with P6 scheduling is a plus.
- Mechanical experience is a plus.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, flexible, and able to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Demonstrated teamwork and leadership skills.
- Willingness to travel as required.
