Position Title: Software Architect (dev & cloud platforms)
Duration: 6 month contract (potential for conversion to FTE)
Location: St. Louis
Schedule: Remote, coming onsite as needed
Start Date: August 3rd or ASAP
Summary: The Software Architect will lead the design and development of modern software solutions and provide technical leadership across the full application lifecycle. This individual will work closely with business stakeholders, development teams, and technology leaders to architect scalable, secure, and maintainable solutions that align with business objectives. The ideal candidate is a hands-on technical leader with strong experience across cloud platforms, application development, data architecture, and modern engineering practices.
The Software Architect is responsible for defining application architecture, establishing development standards, guiding engineering teams, and evaluating emerging technologies. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong technical depth who can translate complex business requirements into practical and innovative technology solutions.
Qualifications:
· 8+ years of software development experience
· 3+ years of software architecture or technical leadership experience
· Experience designing and delivering enterprise scale applications
· Proficiency in multiple tools across the full stack including frontend frameworks, databases, cloud platforms, and deployment technologies
· Experience with a variety of programming languages including JavaScript, TypeScript, C#, .NET, Python, and Node.js
· Experience implementing and promoting Test Driven Development practices
· Experience with relational and NoSQL database technologies
· Experience with container technologies and orchestration platforms
· Demonstrated ability to quickly learn and evaluate new technologies
· Strong problem solving skills with the ability to navigate complex technical challenges
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and nontechnical audiences
· Experience with AWS, Google Cloud Platform, Azure, or other cloud providers
· Experience designing microservices, distributed systems, and cloud native architectures preferred
· Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field preferred
Responsibilities:
· Design and develop enterprise software architecture for complex business applications
· Define architectural standards, design patterns, and engineering best practices
· Lead technical design sessions and architecture reviews
· Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into scalable solutions
· Guide development teams through implementation and deployment activities
· Evaluate and recommend technology stacks, frameworks, and cloud services
· Ensure applications meet security, performance, availability, and scalability requirements
· Drive adoption of Test Driven Development and modern software engineering practices
· Mentor software engineers and provide technical leadership across multiple initiatives
· Support continuous improvement of development processes and platform capabilities
· Participate in solution planning, estimation, and technical roadmap development
