As a Mechanical Engineer, you will work closely with project managers and multidisciplinary teams to plan, design, rehabilitate, and support the construction of mechanical systems for water and wastewater treatment facilities. Responsibilities include the design of HVAC, plumbing, utility, process mechanical, pumping, and fire protection systems, as well as equipment selection, preparation of technical calculations, specifications, reports, cost estimates, and construction documents. You will also support facility assessments, equipment rehabilitation and replacement projects, startup and commissioning activities, review of contractor submittals and RFIs, and coordination with operations staff, equipment manufacturers, and instrumentation and controls engineers to deliver practical, maintainable, and reliable engineering solutions.
Successful candidates will have experience in one or more of the following areas: mechanical system design; HVAC load calculations; equipment sizing and selection; process piping and pumping systems; treatment plant mechanical equipment; preparation of technical specifications; construction support; facility evaluations; and coordination with vendors, manufacturers, and multidisciplinary design teams

DETAILED DESCRIPTION
· Perform mechanical engineering design for water and wastewater treatment facilities, including HVAC, plumbing, utility, process mechanical, and fire protection systems.
· Work closely with project managers and multidisciplinary teams to deliver mechanical engineering projects.
· Prepare engineering calculations, technical memoranda, reports, drawings, specifications, cost estimates, and other design deliverables.
· Evaluate existing facilities and mechanical systems and develop practical engineering solutions for rehabilitation and capital improvement projects.
· Perform mechanical equipment selection and coordinate with equipment manufacturers and vendors.
· Coordinate with clients, operations staff, contractors, and project team members throughout design and construction.
· Conduct site visits and field investigations to support design, verify existing conditions, and observe construction.
· Assist with construction support, including submittal reviews, RFIs, change requests, and change orders.
· Successfully manage assignments while meeting project schedules and quality standards.
· Adhere to LEE + RO’s QA/QC process.
· Participate in client meetings and business development activities as opportunities arise.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
· Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
· State of California Mechanical PE License, or ability to obtain within 1 year of hire.
· Experience in one or more of the following areas:
· Proficient using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook), AutoCAD, and BlueBeam Revu.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
· Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
· Strong interest in the water/wastewater industry.
· Strong aptitude for researching and solving technical problems.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
· Advanced degree (Master’s or Doctorate) in Mechanical Engineering.
· Experience with water and wastewater treatment facilities, including process mechanical equipment such as pumps, blowers, piping systems, valves, and chemical feed systems.
· Experience coordinating with equipment manufacturers, vendors, and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
· Experience supporting facility assessments, equipment rehabilitation, startup, or commissioning.
SALARY RANGE: $79,040 - $151,840/yr.
The anticipated starting pay range for this position is based on the employee’s primary work location and will be commensurate with the individual’s skills, experience, and education. These ranges are subject to modification in the future.

WORK LOCATION AND SCHEDULE
All staff are expected to report to office in person at least three days a week (Tuesday-Thursday) and have the option of working remotely two days a week (Monday and Friday).
