Position Overview
The Welding Instructor is responsible for delivering high-quality classroom and hands-on instruction in accordance with RCC’s curriculum standards. This role plays a critical part in shaping future professional welders by fostering technical skill development, professionalism, and industry readiness.
Qualifications
- Diploma in Welding, Metal Working, Metal Fabrication or related field is preferred; High School Diploma/GED is required.
- Minimum 5 years of professional welding experience (required).
- Must have the ability to read blueprints and demonstrate and apply safety (and welding) practices and standards.
- Proficiency in Stick, MIG, and TIG welding.
- Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Positive attitude and team-oriented mindset.
- Passion for mentoring, training, and student development.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and deliver lecture, laboratory, and clinical instruction aligned with the approved curriculum.
- Follow established course outlines, objectives, and evaluation standards.
- Develop lesson plans and maintain documentation of daily instructional activities.
- Monitor and document student attendance and retention.
- Grade assignments and return feedback within 48 hours.
- Provide academic support during scheduled office hours or by appointment.
- Advise students regarding academic performance and institutional policies.
- Maintain communication with academic leadership (Lead Instructor, Program Chair, Academic Dean, or Campus President).
- Monitor equipment, tools, and supply inventory.
- Submit textbook, equipment, and supply needs as required.
- Ensure students adhere to catalog guidelines and safety standards.
- Attend required meetings and participate in committees as assigned.
- Engage in professional development activities to maintain accreditation standards.
- Support online instruction by monitoring participation and grading within 48 hours.
- Perform additional responsibilities and duties as needed.
