Manufacturing Engineer
This role is part of a multi-disciplinary engineering department, the PLB Site Engineering Solutions team focused on continuous improvement in manufacturing processes, among other areas. Rooted in process and mechanical engineering disciplines, including Six Sigma and lean manufacturing, the ES CI Department provides solutions for process improvements, metrics management, analysis and project management. The ES CI Department supports operational groups through cross-functional teams addressing troubleshooting, root cause analysis, FMEA, TPM, and other manufacturing interventions. The ES Department develops projects to enhance processes, potentially involving new manufacturing equipment. This includes continuous improvement and TPM-related projects for MRP processes, such as injection molding, lining, decoration and warehousing.
Create potential new CI projects to feed the CI hopper. Lead lean manufacturing events to improve processes. Lead CI projects. Design mechanical technical solutions that support process improvement. Develop and implement process improvements including fixture design with DFM analysis. Monitor critical metrics for the site. Define and coordinate the implementation of corrective actions. Specify and procure new manufacturing equipment associated with CI projects. Conduct Value Stream Mapping, Design of Experiments (DOE), Statistical Process Control (SPC) and CPK analysis on key process parameters. Redesign material handling processes and layouts using time and motion studies. Understand, implement and facilitate Kaizen, FMEA, Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma on manufacturing processes in general.
Position Requirements:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics Engineering.
Training: No training required.
Experience: 14 months of experience as Operations or Manufacturing Engineer in a production facility. Experience to include: PFMEA; ERP implementation; cost-benefit analysis; KPI monitoring; SOP development; and process management.
Special Skills: Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or equivalent certification. Knowledge of statistical quality control methods including SPC, CPK analysis, and DOE. Proficiency in statistical packages including Minitab. Experience with ERP systems and JIT/Kanban inventory management. KPI development and data analysis proficiency. SOP development and process optimization experience.
Travel: Travel requirements are primarily domestic with intermittent international travel. Travel is on an as-needed basis and can peak around 5-10%.
Salary:
$86,819.00/ Year. The wage rate does not account for possible future increases due to annual cost of living increases or allowances.
