The Aircraft Prototyping Laboratory in the School of Aerospace Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology is seeking two research engineers. We are seeking professional engineers with demonstrated experience in relevant experiential disciplines to support the project's three existing research engineers and array of students, both graduate and undergraduate.

Responsibilities
RAVEN is a fast-paced hands-on engineering and research program with constantly evolving requirements. As such, we are seeking professional engineers with demonstrated experience in relevant experiential disciplines to support the project's three existing research engineers and array of students, both graduate and undergraduate. On a day-to-day basis, candidates will be expected to partake in a variety of activities including:
Attending regular and unscheduled meetings with NASA counterparts
Overseeing the design and fabrication of test rig components and subsystems
Writing technical documentation and standard operating procedures
Attending (and potentially leading) experimental test campaigns
Compiling data and technical reports for dissemination to NASA
Authoring/co-authoring technical papers for presentation at conferences/journals
Assisting students in achieving their technical objectives
Participating in team leadership activities such as recruitment and the running of facilities
Procurement of materials, supplies, and equipment
Interaction with vendors and suppliers
Some travel to NASA research centers and technical conferences will be required.
Required Qualifications
Open Rank Required Qualifications. Final rank will be determined commensurate with education and experience.
Research Engineer I
Bachelor's Degree in Aerospace Engineering, or related area.
Research Engineer II
A Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering, and three (3) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of that degree, or
A Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering, and five (5) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of a Bachelor's degree, or
A Doctoral degree in Aerospace Engineering or or related area.
Senior Research Associate/Engineer/ Scientist/Technologist or Senior Extension Professional
A Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering and seven (7) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of that degree, or
A Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering, and nine (9) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of a Bachelor's degree, or
A Doctoral degree in Aerospace Engineering, and four (4) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of a Bachelor's degree.
Preferred Qualifications
This solicitation is deliberately open-ended to reflect the flexible nature required of this role. However, our foremost requirement is for demonstrable experience in a relevant technical discipline such as Aerospace/Mechanical/Electrical/Industrial BEngineering or Computer Science. Persons with non-academic professional experience such as Aviation Mechanics will also be considered. Early career candidates are preferred. Valid US driving license required.
