Overview

The Fabric Heat Press Technician is responsible for operating heat press and bonding equipment to produce soft goods used in our campers and rooftop tents. This role ensures fabric components are built accurately and delivered on time to support downstream production. Reliability, attention to detail, and pride in workmanship are essential. Your work directly impacts production flow, product quality, and the customer experience.

Key Responsibilities

Safety

• Safety is everyone’s responsibility. You work safely, follow all company health and safety policies, and ensure your team does as well.
• Operate heat press and bonding equipment safely and according to established procedures.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
• Perform routine cleaning and basic preventative maintenance on equipment.
• Report equipment issues, safety risks, or material concerns promptly.

Quality

• You and your work are reliable. The team knows they can trust you and your work to be on-time, accurate, and consistent.
• Inspect materials and completed components to ensure they meet quality standards.
• Verify proper bonding, alignment, and overall appearance.
• Identify and prevent defects such as incomplete bonds or heat-related damage.
• Escalate quality issues to prevent defective parts from moving forward.

Production Execution

• Operate heat press equipment to produce components and sub-assemblies according to work instructions.
• Follow engineering drawings, green cards, and build documentation.
• Maintain consistent output to support production schedules and prevent delays.
• Stage and organize materials to ensure efficient workflow.
• Ensure all completed work is accurate and ready for the next production stage.

Process Improvement

• Follow standard operating procedures to ensure consistent results.
• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, consistency, and quality.
• Provide feedback on tooling, fixturing, and workflow improvements.

Team Collaboration

• Work closely with Fabric Town team members and Production Leads to maintain production flow.
• Communicate material shortages, equipment issues, or delays early.
• Support team success by delivering dependable, high-quality work.
• Contribute to a positive, accountable team environment.

Skills & Qualifications

• Experience operating heat press, bonding, or industrial textile equipment preferred.
• Experience in textile production, soft goods manufacturing, or similar production environments is a plus.
• Ability to follow work instructions, technical documentation, and build specifications.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
• Mechanical aptitude and ability to learn equipment setup and adjustment.
• Strong organization and time management skills.
• Reliable, dependable, and able to maintain consistent work output.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Alignment with GFC’s culture of craftsmanship, ownership, and continuous improvement.
• Passion for the outdoors and GFC’s mission is a plus.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and work at a workstation for extended periods (up to 10 hours per shift).
• Ability to lift and move materials and components up to 40 lbs.
• Manual dexterity to safely operate equipment.
• Ability to work in a production environment with heat, moderate noise, and repetitive motion.
• Visual acuity sufficient to inspect materials and finished components.

Things to know

• Production employees work a 4-10s schedule (4 days a week, 10 hours a day) Monday - Thursday. Production hours are 8am-6:30pm with a half hour lunch, however individual team hours may vary depending on production needs.
• At GFC our “core group” of employees are a collection of people that we value very highly. Because of this we do not take lightly to adding personnel to this group. Individual personalities and attitudes can have major impacts, good or bad, on the group's culture as a whole. To preserve our team and ensure a positive and productive culture and work environment, we enforce a 12 month probationary period per Montana State Law. GFC reserves the right to terminate your employment with or without cause at any time during this probationary period if it is determined that your performance or attitude is detrimental to the organization. Throughout this probationary period you as an employee also have the right to resign your position with or without cause with notice to your manager.
• You will receive 3 weeks paid vacation per year, which does not carry over and is not paid out upon resignation/termination. These weeks are full shutdown weeks and are for all GFC production employees. Weeks are set at the beginning of each year with one in Spring, one in Summer, and one in Winter.
• 40 hours of paid sick time
• Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance is provided and employee coverage is paid for by GFC. Dependents are covered by employees.
• Eligible for 401k contributions, GFC does not match.
• GFC Employee Product Program. You are eligible for a Camper, Topper, or Roof Top Tent. Details on this program will be provided separately.
