Alaska Precast Solutions (APS) is launching one of the newest and most technologically advanced prestressed precast concrete manufacturing facilities in North America.

Located in Nikiski, Alaska, our 60,000-square-foot manufacturing campus combines industry-leading Elematic automation, modern production technologies, and an experienced executive leadership team to transform how precast concrete products are manufactured and delivered throughout Alaska.

Position Summary

The Plant Manager serves as the senior manufacturing leader responsible for commissioning, startup, and ongoing operation of APS's prestressed precast concrete manufacturing facility.

This individual will lead all aspects of plant operations including production, safety, maintenance, scheduling, staffing, continuous improvement, and operational performance while working alongside an experienced executive leadership team and nationally recognized technical advisors.

Success in this role requires a leader who can balance strategic planning with hands-on execution while developing a culture built on accountability, safety, quality, teamwork, and continuous improvement.

Primary Responsibilities

Manufacturing Leadership

• Lead all daily manufacturing operations.
• Build, coach, mentor, and develop production supervisors and manufacturing personnel.
• Establish a culture of accountability, professionalism, and operational excellence.
• Develop staffing plans that support current production and future growth.
• Align production objectives with company goals and customer commitments.

Startup & Commissioning

• Lead the transition from plant commissioning into commercial production.
• Coordinate startup activities with equipment manufacturers and technical partners.
• Develop standard operating procedures and production workflows.
• Validate equipment readiness and optimize manufacturing processes.
• Lead operator training and production readiness initiatives.

Operational Excellence

• Implement Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs).
• Improve productivity, throughput, and equipment utilization.
• Reduce waste and improve manufacturing efficiency.
• Drive data-based decision making throughout the operation.

Quality Leadership

• Partner closely with the Director of QA/QC to support PCI certification and long-term compliance.
• Ensure quality is built into every manufacturing process.
• Lead corrective action initiatives and continuous process improvement.
• Promote a "right the first time" manufacturing culture.

Safety & Compliance

• Champion an incident-free workplace built on personal accountability.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, PCI, ACI, and company safety standards.
• Lead proactive safety meetings, inspections, and training programs.
• Foster a culture where safety is everyone's responsibility.

Maintenance & Asset Management

• Partner with maintenance personnel to maximize equipment reliability.
• Develop preventative maintenance strategies that minimize downtime.
• Support long-term capital planning and equipment improvements.

Qualifications

Required

• 7+ years of manufacturing leadership experience in prestressed precast concrete or comparable heavy industrial manufacturing.
• Demonstrated experience leading production teams.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing operations, production scheduling, quality systems, and industrial safety.
• Experience managing budgets, labor planning, and operational performance.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.

Preferred

• Prestressed hollowcore production experience.
• Elematic production systems experience.
• Manufacturing startup or commissioning experience.
• PCI-certified manufacturing experience.
• Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma experience.
• Experience implementing manufacturing KPIs and continuous improvement initiatives.

First 90 Days

• Complete plant familiarization and commissioning activities.
• Establish strong working relationships across all departments.
• Finalize production procedures and operating standards.
• Develop production reporting and KPI dashboards.
• Build confidence and credibility with the manufacturing team.

First Year

• Successfully transition the facility into commercial production.
• Build a high-performing supervisory team.
• Support PCI certification and world-class quality standards.
• Improve production efficiency through continuous improvement initiatives.
• Establish APS as Alaska's premier prestressed precast manufacturing operation.
