Position Summary
The Clinical Skills Instructor Assistant, Community Outreach Coordinator & CPR Trainer is a dynamic, front-facing role that combines three key positions to support student success, build partnerships, and represent KLR in the community. This individual will be responsible for ensuring students gain hands-on experience in essential clinical skills, assisting with classroom preparation, facilitating lessons, and monitoring student progress.
Additionally, they will play a crucial role in expanding KLR’s network by attending career fairs, forging relationships with industry partners, and participating in KLR events. As a certified CPR Trainer, they will also be responsible for training students in life-saving techniques. This role serves as a direct representative of KLR, embodying its mission and values in every interaction.
About the role
This is a full-time, in-person position requiring 40 hours per week, with some evening and weekend work based on KLR events and organizational needs. The individual in this role must be flexible and prepared to adjust their schedule accordingly. While there will be some computer and remote work, this position is primarily community and student-facing, requiring active engagement with students, partners, and event attendees. All role-specific training is provided on the job.
This position requires regular travel but may also require up to 28 days of out-of-state travel per year (subject to change based on needs). To support local travel requirements, this position includes a dedicated KLR company car for work-related driving only, along with a company gas card. All vehicle maintenance, car washes, and auto insurance are fully covered by KLR.
Reports to: Director of Administration and Human Resources, Bridgette Houska, and Director of Health Sciences, Marielle Friedman.
Responsibilities
CPR & First Aid Training
- Train students in CPR and First Aid, covering both the written and hands-on components.
- Develop and implement a curriculum that exceeds state standards.
- Ensure students are certified and confident in emergency response skills.
Hands-On Clinical Skills Training
- Comprehensive training is fully provided on the job to ensure your success in all facets of the role.
- Master and teach essential clinical skills, including vital signs (blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and temperature), drawing blood (phlebotomy), performing EKGs, administering injections, and basic wound care.
- Collaborate with instructors to build a comprehensive curriculum that prepares students for real-world clinical experiences in all health fields.
- Travel between schools using a provided KLR company vehicle to provide hands-on training at student clinics to provide hands-on training at student clinics, ensuring students gain the necessary practical experience.
- Demonstrate and oversee hands-on procedures, ensuring students understand and apply proper techniques.
- Maintain an organized training schedule to ensure all students receive timely, consistent, and high-quality instruction.
- Monitor student progress and competency in hands-on skills, providing feedback and support to improve performance.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory and certification requirements for clinical skills training.
- Stay up to date on the latest industry practices and techniques to incorporate into training sessions.
Community & Employer Partnerships
- Attend all career fairs and be knowledgeable about all KLR courses to effectively answer student and teacher questions.
- Conduct site visits for all KLR students in rotations, ensuring check-ins with preceptors and students while also providing KLR’s Production Department with photos.
- Represent KLR at community and industry events to promote programs and expand partnerships.
- Propose partnerships with potential employers in every field of KLR, ensuring opportunities for students after certification.
- Work with local businesses, clinics, and hospitals to create internship and employment pipelines.
- Collaborate closely with other community outreach team members to execute and complete tasks assigned by leadership in a timely manner.
Student & Administrative Engagement
- Work closely with the Health Sciences Department to align training with course objectives.
- Fill schedule gaps by assisting instructors and providing additional training as needed.
- Effectively and consistently communicate with administration, production, and the Health Sciences Department.
- Help market and promote KLR programs to potential students and partners.
- Assist administration with the management, organization, and development of materials at the KLR storage facilities and KLR Work Loft located in Fishers, Indiana. This includes but is not limited to preparing and organizing print items, student attire, and supply bins.
Event & Outreach Coordination
- Assist in organizing and leading TB clinics and blood drives for KLR students and the community.
- Assist as needed with event set up and take down
- Attend and represent KLR at career fairs, expos, and networking events to attract students and build relationships.
- Be a front-facing representative of KLR, ensuring a professional and engaging presence in the community.
Flexibility & Work Schedule
- This role requires some evening and weekend work based on KLR events and needs.
- While some administrative work may be done remotely, this position is primarily community and student-facing.
- Must be adaptable and ready to adjust to evolving needs within the organization.
Other Duties
- Maintain inventory numbers in KLR storage facilities.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of KLR’s online programs by providing feedback and innovative ideas.
- Assist with student recruitment efforts and presentations.
- Help develop presentations related to CPR, first aid, and hands-on skills training.
- Ensure compliance with state and industry standards for all training programs.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress, certifications, and partnership agreements.
- Adhere to KLR policies, procedures, and accreditation requirements.
- Any and all other duties as needed
Pay: $40,000.00 per year
