About South Lyon Medical Center
South Lyon Medical Center is a community-centered rural healthcare organization serving Yerington, Nevada, and the surrounding Mason and Smith Valleys region. Our integrated campus combines long term care, critical hospital services, and rural primary care. We are seeking a dynamic Chief Nursing Officer to serve as the clinical executive leader across the full continuum of our services.
Position Summary
Reporting to the Administrator, the Chief Nursing Officer provides strategic and operational leadership for all nursing services, with 24/7 responsibility for nursing operations. The CNO ensures high-quality, patient-centered care, regulatory compliance, patient safety, quality improvement, staffing, budgeting, and nursing operations across long term care, acute and emergency services, and ambulatory primary care settings. The CNO also serves as the organization's Patient Safety Officer and participates in the Administrator-on-Call rotation.
Scope of Clinical Executive Leadership
The CNO serves as the clinical executive leader with direct oversight of the following areas:
Key Responsibilities
◦ Provide leadership for nursing services 24/7 and establish the strategic vision for nursing and clinical services in alignment with organizational goals.
◦ Oversee nursing operations, staffing, and departmental budgets.
◦ Oversee required pharmaceutical reporting.
◦ Ensure compliance with federal, state, and accreditation standards across LTC, CAH, and RHC settings, and lead survey readiness activities.
◦ Lead quality improvement and patient safety initiatives across all clinical departments.
◦ Develop and maintain nursing policies and standards of practice.
◦ Collaborate with physicians, department leaders, and administration to promote exceptional patient care.
◦ Supervise nursing leadership and support employee recruitment, development, and performance management.
◦ Collaborate with case management and care coordination teams partnering with internal and external stakeholders to support smooth transitions of care, thoughtful utilization management, and discharge planning efforts.
◦ Serve as Patient Safety Officer and participate in the Administrator-on-Call rotation.
◦ Serve as a visible, engaged clinical leader within the organization and the community.
Qualifications
◦ Licensure: Current, unencumbered Nevada RN or APRN license, or eligibility to obtain Nevada licensure.
◦ Education: Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) required; BSN, MSN with an MHA, or MBA strongly preferred.
◦ Experience: Five or more years of progressive nursing leadership experience in an acute care hospital; long term care regulatory experience highly desirable; ED and acute care nursing experience preferred; primary care/clinic management experience beneficial.
◦ Strong knowledge of regulatory compliance, quality improvement, budgeting, and nursing operations.
◦ Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
◦ Demonstrated success in survey readiness, program development, and team leadership in a rural or critical access environment is a strong plus.

Compensation and Work Arrangement
Commensurate with experience (DOE). On-site presence in Yerington, Nevada is preferred; a hybrid work arrangement may be considered for the right candidate. A comprehensive benefits package is offered.
