Position Summary:
We are seeking a hands-on Financial Controller to run the full accounting and financial operations of Nyle Water Heating Systems. This is an on-site controller role for a detail-oriented, high-integrity accounting professional who can own the full accounting cycle in an inventory-heavy, ERP-driven manufacturing environment.
The Financial Controller will be responsible for accurate monthly financial statements, reliable month-end close, cash and working capital visibility, inventory and cost accounting, payroll and benefits administration, internal controls, and financial reporting that supports operational decision-making. This position reports to the Chief Operating Officer and works closely with company leadership, production, supply chain, and external accounting professionals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own month-end close and financial reporting: Produce timely, accurate monthly financial statements and management reports, including P&L, balance sheet, cash flow statement, reconciliations, accruals, and supporting schedules.
- Lead accounting operations: Manage AR, AP, general ledger, bank and credit card reconciliations, payroll, benefits, and related accounting entries while maintaining clean subledgers and appropriate approval controls.
- Manage manufacturing cost and inventory accounting: Maintain accurate WIP, finished goods, inventory valuation, COGS, scrap, variance, cycle count, and cutoff reporting within Global Shop Solutions.
- Provide cash flow and business insight: Monitor cash, AR/AP aging, inventory movement, margin trends, and working capital risks; communicate financial issues and recommendations proactively.
- Maintain compliance and internal controls: Ensure local, state, and federal financial/tax compliance, separation of duties, audit-ready documentation, and sound approval workflows.
- Improve financial processes: Document procedures, strengthen ERP data integrity, reduce manual errors, and support scalable accounting practices as the company grows.
What We're Looking For:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA or CMA is a strong plus.
- 3+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in manufacturing, distribution, or public accounting serving manufacturing clients.
- Demonstrated ability to own month-end close and produce accurate financial statements.
- Strong understanding of inventory accounting, COGS, WIP, standard costing or job costing, and ERP-driven transaction flow.
- Experience with ERP or MRP systems required.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and comfortable working with accounting data, reconciliations, and financial reports.
- Working knowledge of payroll, employee benefits administration, and systems such as UKG is a plus.
- High level of integrity, sound judgment, confidentiality, and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently, collaborate across departments, and take ownership of outcomes.
- Practical, hands-on mindset with the ability to identify issues before they become larger problems.
