What You’ll Be Doing
You’re the technical backbone on commercial AV projects — bridging the gap between design and installation. You commission systems, troubleshoot what the installers can’t solve, and make sure everything works before we hand it off to the client. Day one looks like:
- Performing hands-on installation of AV systems in active construction environments — mounting displays, pulling cable, building racks, and wiring endpoints as needed alongside the install crew
- Loading programming and commissioning Crestron, Extron, QSYS, Biamp, and similar AV control and DSP platforms
- Configuring networked AV systems — Dante, AES67, AVoIP, NDI, network switches (VLANs, QoS, multicast)
- Commissioning conference rooms, huddle spaces, boardrooms, video walls, and digital signage systems
- Troubleshooting complex signal flow, control logic, DSP routing, and network connectivity issues
- Reading and interpreting AV construction drawings, riser diagrams, and functional narratives
- Performing system testing, QC walkthroughs, and punch list resolution before client handoff
- Coordinating with project managers, GCs, IT teams, and design engineers on active job sites
- Providing technical support and mentoring to installation crews on system architecture and best practices
- Documenting as-built conditions, programming configurations, and system credentials
- Participating in design reviews and providing field feedback to engineering team
What You Bring
- 4+ years of hands-on commercial AV field experience, including programming and commissioning
- Proficiency in at least one major control platform: Crestron (SIMPL, SIMPL#, AV Framework), Extron, or QSYS
- Strong understanding of DSP configuration — Biamp TesiraFORTE/SERVER, QSYS Core, Extron DMP
- Solid networking fundamentals — TCP/IP, VLANs, subnetting, DHCP, DNS, IGMP snooping
- Experience with AV-over-IP systems (Crestron NVX, Extron NAV, SDVoE, Dante)
- Ability to read and redline AV construction drawings and system schematics
- Own your tools — laptop, multimeter, network tester, hand tools (we supply specialty gear)
- Reliable transportation to job sites across the tri-state area
- Professional communication — you interface with clients, consultants, GCs, and engineers
- Comfortable working on active construction sites — ladders, lifts, 50+ lbs
What Sets You Apart
- CTS or CTS-I certification
- Crestron Master Programmer or Crestron Certified Programmer
- QSYS Level 1/Level 2 certification
- Biamp Certified Design Engineer (CDE)
- OSHA 10 or 30
- AVIXA/InfoComm RU credits or continuing education
- Experience with Zoom Rooms, Microsoft Teams Rooms, or Cisco Webex certified hardware
- Familiarity with Crestron Fusion, QSYS Reflect, or similar RMM platforms
What We Offer
- $90,000–$115,000/yr ($43–$55/hr) depending on experience, certifications, and programming capabilities
- Health, dental, and vision insurance
- 401(k) with company match
- Paid time off
- Monday–Friday day shifts — OT and weekends available
- Work with real systems: Crestron, Biamp, QSYS, Extron, Samsung/LG commercial displays
- Manufacturer training opportunities and cert support
- Career growth path into Engineering or Project Management
- Job location: New York, NY (Tri-State Area)
