Genie Scientific is seeking a highly organized and motivated Junior Project Manager (Jr. PM) to support our Project Management team in the execution of commercial laboratory and architectural casework projects.
This position is designed as a developmental role for individuals interested in building a career in Project Management. The Jr. PM works directly with Project Managers to coordinate purchasing activities, track project requirements, support documentation, and help ensure projects move efficiently from award through completion.
Unlike traditional coordinator positions, this role has significant responsibility for procurement, vendor management, and material tracking, making it an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop both business and construction/manufacturing project management skills.
Essential Responsibilities Purchasing & Procurement
- Request and evaluate vendor quotations.
- Create and issue purchase orders.
- Coordinate with vendors regarding pricing, lead times, and delivery schedules.
- Track purchased materials from order placement through delivery.
- Expedite critical materials to support project schedules.
- Coordinate freight quotations and delivery logistics.
- Manage outsourced services and purchased components.
- Escalate procurement risks or supply chain concerns to Project Managers.
Project Support
- Track project submittals and approvals.
- Maintain meeting notes and action item logs.
- Support project documentation and organization.
- Assist with project closeout documentation and deliverables.
- Update project records and tracking spreadsheets.
Shared Project Responsibilities
- Track RFIs and outstanding responses.
- Maintain change order logs.
- Assist with material expediting efforts.
- Coordinate shop drawing workflow and document status.
- Support project closeout activities.
This Position Does NOT Own
The Junior Project Manager is a support role and is not directly responsible for:
- Leading customer meetings.
- Managing warranty issues.
- Acting as the primary project owner.
- Making major technical decisions.
- Owning project scope or contract negotiations.
These responsibilities remain with the assigned Project Manager
Qualifications
Required
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Teams, and Word.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to learn technical products and project processes quickly.
Preferred
- Experience in construction, manufacturing, purchasing, logistics, or project coordination.
- Experience reading construction documents, drawings, or specifications.
- Familiarity with ERP systems and project management software.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Business, Construction Management, Project Management, Supply Chain, or related field.

Pay: $58,500.00 - $66,500.00 per year
