We are seeking a dedicated, compassionate Mentor to join our team. This unique position requires living on campus and working overnight shifts on a 7 days on / 7 days off schedule, giving you the chance to build deep, meaningful connections with our youth while maintaining extended personal time off.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as a positive role model, demonstrating integrity, respect, trust, and compassion.
• Provide daily structure, guidance, and encouragement in line with each child’s individualized Treatment Plan.
• Mentor and support children through school, sports, music, church, and community activities.
• Create a nurturing home environment, planning meals, facilitating family-style dinners, and celebrating milestones and achievements.
• Teach independent living skills such as cooking, budgeting, homework habits, time management, and personal care.
• Offer consistent support during emotional challenges, using patience, empathy, and trauma informed practices.
• Ensure accurate documentation including progress notes, weekly updates, and incident reports.
• Oversee medication management, transportation, and safe routines.
• Provide both structured and informal opportunities for recreation, play, and building healthy peer relationships.
• Collaborate closely with shelter staff and work with local DSS agents, caseworkers, and other child welfare professionals to ensure each child’s needs are met.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; college coursework or degree preferred.
• Minimum 1 year of professional experience working with children or teens (group home experience strongly preferred).
• Must be at least 25 years old and able to pass a background check.
• Ability to obtain First Aid and CPR certification.
• Compassion, patience, and commitment to providing unconditional love and guidance.
