Dysfunctional and demoralized

Pros

The company provides great benefits, and has good name recognition in its industry. There are many excellent engineers to work with.

Cons

New management has come in to create a growth transformation, without the vision or skills to achieve one. They took an innovative tight-knit company and turned it into a fumbling mess of chaos. They explain nothing. They make demands without any support. They give commands with no direction. The staff is left confused and frustrated. Everyone is demoralized. This is not leadership, it's management style from the 60's. It's been close to a year now, transition time is past already. What a pity for a company that was at least half decent.

Prone, like many companies, to constantly increasing workload on high performers while letting lower performers off the hook.

Pros

Casual, laid back environment; great schedule (i.e. off every other Friday, lots of company holidays and floating holidays); manufacturing end use items for the military is gratifying.

Cons

Dysfunctional management. There are too many mid-level mangers making conflicting decisions that leave lower level employees caught in the cross hairs when something goes wrong. Management's culture is that of taking all of the credit and none of the blame when issues arise. Additionally, there is also no room for advancement within the company unless you are part of the "inner circle", which is extremely difficult to become a part of because hard work isn't enough to get the recognition and visibility necessary for inclusion. This company has a lot of potential, but is falling short of being an ideal place to work.
