Pros
The front line staff is wonderful. They are kind and respectful of one another.
Cons
Upper and mid management are awful. They treat employees poorly. I have never worked at an institution where so many people are on FMLA for mental health concerns due to issues in the workplace. I have seen managers throw their subordinates under the bus despite the subordinates having evidence. In my area we were re-organized. Policies were created without asking why the team processes documents a specific way. The new policies are not sustainable and the whole team is miserable. The new policies are less flexible (despite being in the handbook) and create a negative atmosphere. There have been no raises in years. Without the flexibility as a 'benefit' it makes the salary and benefits more difficult to tolerate. The management style is very reminiscent of my abusive ex husband. Within 3 months 2 of the 5 team members quit due to management and the rest of the team is looking. I was planning to stay for a couple of years, but with new management, my plan is also to leave.
