Pros
I liked the fast pace of the job and the opportunities to earn extra money through bonuses and commissions. Other drivers were generally helpful and good people. Over the 3 1/2 years that I was there I met a lot of great people. I felt as if I was running my own little business center which I truly enjoyed. My location was a rare union shop which may be slightly different from other locations - we enjoyed fair pay as well as excellent benefits.
Cons
As a Route Driver (SSR) you get a little hot, dirty and smelly - but it kind of goes with the territory! Sometimes it felt as if Management didn't like the fact that our location was unionized and seemed to hold that against us.
