The media industry has changed a lot over the past decade and they don't seem to understand the need to be a technology company. They used to have a ton of extremely talented people, but after some top-down changes by the company, there was a mass exodus. Decisions are all made top-down, often with the help of outside (and expensive) consultatation. They are outsourcing a lot of their technology work. They want to be content producers and their business model is built around advertising but honestly they don't produce much quality content, and advertising is already a flooded market. They claim they care about their people, but in the past couple of years it appears more than they only care about the bottom line. It's also very difficult to move around within the company, and despite losing many people, there was supposedly no budget to promote others.
