Pros
-Overtime/money -VERY easy job 90% of the time. I mean seriously you do a round once an hour and sit around for the other 45 minutes of the hour -Moving up in rank is guaranteed because it’s based solely on seniority -if you’re a hard worker they notice pretty quick. Doesn’t really do a whole lot but you won’t feel overlooked or under appreciated
Cons
-Very hot/dirty. You wear a lot of PPE too so if you get overstimulated easy it’s hell -no social life. It’s advertised as 7 on 2 off with 8 hour shifts in the department I worked at, but your 8s become 12s more often than not, and with very little notice -your coworkers/work environment. I’ll just leave it at that. Very toxic -when stuff is going wrong with the boiler you will not feel safe, even if you theoretically are. Very uncomfortable feeling especially when you’re usually operating on 3 hours of sleep from the horrible scheduling
