Pros

The Christian environment is a positive and the students are wonderful.

Cons

Faculty are treated poorly. Just a body. Classes are paid by the number of students that are enrolled after THREE weeks. I teach graduate courses and my second class enrollment was 11 to start. On the second day, it dropped to 10 students. This equates to $1000 for 8 weeks of work. I give a lot to my students and being paid $125 per week (gross), $12 per student per week is ridiculous - especially for a PhD. When I ask a question, I am told this is the online world and courses are assigned "by student need and enrollment." Typical canned response. I have been teaching online before it was even popular.

Pros

I love GCU! Unique university and movement. Fast growth and great culture for students though not perfect. Good people. Work from home, paid higher than other admissions jobs, flexible schedule.

Cons

I work 40-60 hours a week with no bonus. Monthly and yearly sales goals. Management is all about numbers and feel they don't build into and care for their employees which is shocking for a Christian university. Stressed all the time and never caught up as we are expected to financially clear all of our students. Reps do almost everything. You don't refer families to a department. Very hard to manage work/life balance. Very limited room to grow professionally.

Pros

lots of employee perks including free tuition, paid time off and flexible schedules.

Cons

the work load is ridiculous. performance indicators change constantly. students are rude & entitled and you get about 30 emails a day. there's a call queue you have to be logged in to at all times. daily activities are tedious and repetitive. taking time off will make you fall so behind because weekly activities, emails and voicemails just pile up. high employee turn over rate.
