Pros

Joined a few months ago as an engineer and it's the best working environment I've had. A few things stand out. First, it's the most autonomous place I've worked - you're trusted to decide how to approach a problem, not just handed a spec, and you get real ownership fast: within days I was scoping and driving meaningful infrastructure work, not onboarding tickets. Second, technical disagreements get resolved on the merits. Senior people will push back hard on your proposals, but they'll also change their minds when the evidence supports it, and being newer doesn't discount your argument. Third, leadership takes a genuine interest in people's development, not just their output. There's a strong culture of measuring before building and being honest about what you actually know versus what you're assuming, which sounds obvious but is rare in practice. Lastly, the product is genuinely good, which matters more than people admit - it's motivating to work on something you'd use anyway, and every user call starting with people gushing about using it is always great (but comes with its own challenges about digging for difficulty!)

Cons

It's a startup, so ambiguity comes with the territory. You're often defining the problem, not just solving it - energizing if that's your thing, stressful if you want clear specs. The pace is real.

The best place I've ever worked

Pros

- Working building a product people genuinely love - Super flexible in-person culture - we're 5 days in the office by default but extremely understanding of peoples' various life circumstances - Total ownership over your area - everyone is experienced and trusted to make good decisions for the products they're building or areas they own - Visionary founders who care a huge amount about the product and people they work with - Gorgeous, light and plant-filled office space - Free breakfast, lunch and dinner if you stay past 7pm - Generous salary, benefits, equity

Cons

Likely to hit growing pains at some point soon, we can't keep operating like a 20 person company forever (though we've managed it til now, with 60 people!)
