Pros

The pay is highly competitive for the region especially when you can find some affordable neighborhoods in the district or neighboring areas (less expensive than Seattle, North Seattle, and East of Seattle) The district had very ambitious goals and was deeply rooted in serving all students. They have a strong commitment to dual language and the community has passed many back to back bonds and levies.

Cons

The "cons" are also reasons to do the work, you are serving communities and students that have a lot of odds stacked up against them in our current landscape, this comes with the challenges and rewards that accompany working in any districts like this. Though it does have some pockets of very high wealth and resources so it is an interesting district and mix in that respect, which makes for a stronger district and funding sources in a positive way. The central office is working on supporting the work in schools better and has the same shortcomings that many central offices have but was more adaptive and responsive to feedback than I've seen in other districts.
