Be Cautious

Pros

The pay and benefits can be highly competitive, and the company does have a lot of freedom.

Cons

Smaller company, so the staff can be clicky. If you are not willing to travel most weekends and for long periods of time wouldn't recommend it. Saying no to travel doesn't sit right with management, as they expect that you are always available. Not much of a work-life balance, so maintaining outside relationships can be extremely difficult.

Pros

Benefits are first class, no one breathing down your neck, no boss.

Cons

If you need structure to succeed, or a manager setting you up for success, this is not the place for you. MDI is an entrepreneurial environment.

Pros

A good way to make a quick buck. Shout out to the Bindbuster team for all of your efforts to support me on service calls and projects. The Bindbusters team is without a doubt the shining star at this company.

Cons

Don't expect much support from your co-workers as you will mostly be on your own. I was new out of college with little experience at the time and asking co-workers for help or guidance was always an awful since they would just talk down to and be little me. Especially at the Allentown office, try to stay away from there if you can. All of your experience will come from trial by fire. You don't know how to use Siemens? Well, you better learn quick because your about to fly to California in 2 hours to fix a system you've never seen before with a Siemens PLC. You don't know how to use FactoryTalk? Your HMI Screens are due at the end of the week. You're not sure about something on a quote? You must be an idiot. Be ready to work a ton of hours as working overtime is the work culture expectation here. The overtime rate is nice but expect to never see your home, hobbies, wife and kids ever again. You’re not done till the job is done. You will also have to travel a lot. Be prepared to spend the next 4 months at a warehouse in nowhere Kentucky. The hotel and airline points are pretty nice though. I can’t speak much about health benefits since I was never home long enough from projects or service calls to be able to actually go to a doctor.

Pros

MDI really tries to show employees they appreciate everything we do. Calling to check in on remote employees, regular raises, and great benefits. I'd recommend them to anyone who asked!

Cons

I have no complaints about MDI.
