Literally everything. County management does not care about the employees, the commissioners are openly hostile and think everyone is a lazy, useless functionary, and work-life balance just isn't a thing because you will never be given the resources to succeed (to say nothing about getting enough people to do the work the county manager and the board expect people to do). And, oh by the way, if you are not a straight white male republican, you can't succeed (not "won't" — "can't") and you'll certainly never advance up the ladder if you do manage to somehow survive. The revolving door is all the evidence you need to see that this place is a waste of your time and you won't stay there very long.

Pay isn't the best and negotiating will lead to a disappointing result. Pay is outside the realm of your department managers and is managed by the assistance county manager. While it is being worked on there isn't much room to grow. While the health care is cheap it also is not the best.
