Pros

Hmmm. Not much other than location in Chicago (right across from the Art Institute).

Cons

The university keeps getting worse and worse. All you need is a pulse and the government's money and you will be admitted. No care anymore about quality of student. Terrible top management - condescending, unprofessional, out of touch with employees, never available to assist with work load and just pile more on to their employees. Toxic environment. No raises and very low pay.

Thank you for your dedication and commitment for the past 3 years! No secrets here - the ever so important satisfaction survey results were shared at a recent ULC meeting and communicated to the entire NLU community from the President's Office at the end of May. If you can't find the email, please contact the HR Office and they'd be happy to provide a copy.

Pros

Staff works well with one another and most are very passionate about their students.

Cons

Management seems to be out of touch with the needs of adult learner transfers. They've put so much stock into their pathways program, they seem to treat the adult learners as an after thought and many are under-prepared to begin these programs. Furthermore, NLU can come off as pretty predatory - much like the for-profits- when it comes trying to get students to register to meet numbers.

We are very proud of our Pathways program and due to the rate of growth, you’re right the program has received a lot of attention, but in no way are we forgetting our other students. All of our students are a priority no matter the program or degree.

My coworkers and location of campus

Cons

Can barely live of the salary. Not even a cost of living raise two years in a row. Manager is the worst I have ever had. Controlling, condescending and demeaning. Various complaints to HR and director about her and nothing done.
