Pros
Great people! Not much true responsibility. You can stay around for years and not really accomplish much. There are no measurable goals. Literally, some people have no goals to accomplish in the year. They aren't measured on things throughout the year. The people in the newsroom are not interested in doing anything different. I once heard the VP say they thought the product had no room for improvement. Who says that? No room for improvement? Really? Things stay as they have always been which just means you don't have to really perform. No one is interested in really changing anything. The only thing of any value is the new Big Wing Interactive department. At least it's fun over there.
Cons
No one is interested in truly changing anything. Or people come up with horrible ideas with no thought or emphasis on any kind of business plan. It's a complete joke. Projects are allowed to continue with no tracking or metrics at all. True research is never used to make any decisions. Someone comes up with some harebrained idea and the VP of the department will let them proceed without any thought for resources or if the project is even something that anyone in the public cares about. Perfect case and point is Wimgo. Remember that?? Customer service is laughable but no one really seems interested in changing it. We were constantly having to contact the circulation department about problems with delivery of the very product we were selling. They didn't really care. Nothing ever changes...ever. Don't work there if you want to change the world! They are all talk and nothing else.
