Toxic management with ineffective leadership

Pros

Basically a content farm with undervalued employees. Boots on the ground folks, the ones who are actually creating value in your product, are some of the most hard working and friendliest people in the org. You can take a lot of time off as long as your work gets done.

Cons

Management is made of yes-people all the way up, like cult. There is very little employee driven innovation because ideas are ignored or taken with hostility unless it comes from some favored individuals. It is very clear which types of people get promoted. Hint: Not the smart, hardworking, outspoken ones. Raises take forever and you will quickly get tired of essentially getting pay cut year after year. It is also disheartening to see that the bulk of the lower rung, poorly paid and overworked employees are women and POC. I don’t think they have a clear framework of competencies and levels. Everyone with decision making power flies by the seat of their pants, including the CEO who humiliates and curses at employees during company all-hands. Grow up.

Pros

Unlimited vacation days, good benefits over all. Caring ERG leader, plenty of good, smart people who are doing their best.

Cons

This is a massive company designed to make the billionaires who run it stay rich. Individuals and their career growth are not a priority. Upper management salaries are exponentially higher than middle management. The CEO also tends to speak very condescendingly when addressing the company. He openly shoots down questions or makes fun of them, and says "if you don't like it, go work somewhere else." Classic toxic claims that the company is a "family." Many good people have left this company due to bad vibes and lack of upward mobility despite their best efforts.

Pros

Good 401k match Internal promotion opportunities Great coworkers

Cons

It's disappointing to see how lost leadership seems to be right now. The following events have happened: - HR starts prioritizing NY candidates, making it difficult for us to find people who are willing to work for our below-market average salaries. - Our CEO tells us "We have made major steps with culture and we finally feel like one company." - We all find out our merit increases and bonuses would be delayed until the end of March. - 274 of our colleagues are let go. - Budgets are cut. - We're told to do "more with less." Now we'll see what actually happens with our bonuses. For a company that also doesn't do adjustments for inflation, I don't know how they can expect anyone to stay here and work with any sort of hope. Fear is at an all-time high, people are exhausted, we're sick of being lied to, and other companies are offering better salaries and benefits. I can't stay here and not essentially take a pay cut due to inflation.
