Pros

The campus is beautiful and centrally located. The students are great. Great mission on the whole. Decent benefits package including free/partial tuition for employee and family.

Cons

Pay for parking. 1% city tax. IT culture and morale are awful. School recently made severe cuts in staffing to correct a budget deficit. Cut about 1/3 of the IT positions and will not refill them. The work didn't let up though. The people remaining after the cuts get more work, no raise, and another reorganization in a few months. The IT department is stacked heavy on the leadership side. But no decisions/communication comes from them on the work to be done.

Pros

It's a nice campus in the arts districts of St. Louis. Students are generally polite and bright. Fellow faculty are fairly collegial.

Cons

Salaries and benefits are not good. I don't know who posted salaries in the six-figures for associate professors, but the average posted on Glassdoor is more than twice what I make. The university recently cut my spouse's ability to be included on our health insurance plan, essentially cutting my compensation by another $5000/yr. Maybe faculty at the medical school skew the average, but everyone I know at this university is absurdly underpaid, and pretty much anyone who can leave, does.

Pros

Interesting new technology to learn and play with. Great engineers left an environment that can teach green engineers how to build complex environments. Extremely lucrative contracts available to consultants as ITS outsources more of its solutions.

Cons

Extremely toxic environment for the staff. Virtually all of the projects are falling behind and have no chance of being completed properly. Old infrastructure desperately needs replaced, but cannot be as the engineers are gone and the contractors only understand small business environments, which SLU is not. As almost all of the top engineers have gone there is no one left to vet the contractors being hired and as a result their quality continues to deteriorate.
