Pros

Good clientele and nice products. Nice office, lots of room. Employees are friendly, creative and helpful. There is a lot of work to do because of being short staffed so new things to learn all the time. They offer full health insurance and employer matched 401K.

Cons

This company I thought would be a wonderful place to work. It was fine at first but the longer you stayed the more insecure and controlling the management / owners would become. They were often threatened by new ideas of how to improve the business. They would look for something to blame you for and often jump to conclusions that were incorrect before checking or asking. They owners consist of the founder Roar and his two sons Eric and Harald. The sons are young but follow the old ways and do not make independent decisions. The sons also seem to be competitive with each other. They use the employees as messengers between each other. They do not allow the employee of one department to speak to the ones at the other department or to transfer to another position that may be of a better fit. It seems as if Eric may not be suited for this business or as the President but he has little choice in the matter and just tries to do his best. People skills are not his strong point and that shows with the way that he manages. They tend to be behind in the times and treat the employees as if they were slaves or prisoners. They like to manage when you eat, where and who you spend your break time with. They have been very condescending especially to women. I have seen many employees leave there in the year that I was there. The turn over rate is very high. Most people just try to hang in there for a year so that it does not reflect negatively on their resume. They are extremely busy and hosting wine events and trips on their speed boats or making custom made pianos that serve as a bar and have it shipped to the Concourse D'Elegance but yet they can not offer raises or bonuses. The employees take the work seriously and often work overtime without pay to ensure that the projects are perfect. I have heard and can agree that working at Studio Becker is like being in jail. They want you tied to your desk and to report at all time what you are doing and who with. It is so extreme that you will need to announce when you want to use the restroom. If you go to a jobsite they will want you to send an email even if you are already on the road for another errand and want to save time to go take care of another project. A phone call or text won't work. You can not use your own phone during your own time if you are at work. They are very short sighted and do not value those that help to make them money. If you don't mind working at a place temporarily then this may be a good fit.

Pros

Coworkers are nice. It pays low, but good benefits.

Cons

Biggest con is management. Management holds an iron grip over everything, and spy on your every move (for example: you can't talk freely with coworkers, you can't eat lunch that smells like anything, etc). Supremely condescending and ungrateful, they feel entitled but have no clue how to run a business successfully. They pay employees low, and once a month, which is illegal.
