Pros

You’re not just a number. You’re a person with this company. Everybody knows you on first name basis. Great benefits. They’re pretty flexible with your home life if you have vacations or emergencies. Plenty of room for opportunity and growth and advancement

Cons

Pay is on the lower side. There are some things you’re required to do that just doesn’t equal the pay. Benefits somewhat make up for it and the flexibility.

Decent company, captains hate the deckhand and make life hell.

Given a week or two off per trip. High paying Great office staff

Cons

Gone all the time Can be force to work 18 plus hours straight for same pay Captains are allowed to call deckhands obscene things with no backlash and of you complain even if they are being racist the captains get you fired.
