Pros

Most of the average folks who work here are fine, and some are extraordinary. This review is about management, which is not fine, and is most certainly not extraordinary.

Cons

I work at a facility owned by and ostensibly managed by UMMHC. I've been there for many years. I have NEVER seen any evidence of active management at either the corporate or the site level (except for constant 'rah-rah' email newsletters. To make matters worse, upper mgmt has subscribed to a program similar to LEAN/Six Sigma, which to my mind is no better than fascist brain-washing (based on positive thinking and failure to recognize real problems). I am only still there because I would have to drive a long way to find a similar job. Despite being 50+ I am now seeking to enter a completely different field which pays a lot less, simply so I can work in a better place. Lastly, the discrepancy between executive salaries (stratospheric) and ordinary salaries (subterranean) at this place is truly alarming.

Pros

There are some nice people

Cons

-Most of Sr. Leadership has been at the company for years and doesn't want to change their antiquated ways. -Leaders who have been at the company for 10+ years often reference processes that were used at previous companies. Those processes have evolved over the years, but it doesn't matter because leadership thinks those antiquated processes are still relevant. -Senior Leadership does not believe in work from home, they were forced because of Covid and even after Covid, jobs that can be work from home will be required to return to the office 2-3 days a week, if not more. - You don't have a voice unless you are friendly with someone in management. - If you try to have a voice and are not friendly with management you are labeled as difficult for not just doing what you're told. - Review process is not fair, it's called Pay for Performance, however everyone gets the same raise every year. 2% across the board and it's been that way for years. - No accountability for staff. Processes are always changing because the staff is not held accountable and won't follow the process. - Lots of gossipy people, including management. - Employee survey is a joke nobody wants to say anything because they don't want to lose their job. - Complaints about certain senior leaders go unheard because of favoritism. - If you are not liked, the gossip mill will start and you will be tattled on for sneezing the wrong way. - No open door policy, even though they say they do. - CIO doesn't communicate with the team. - Sr. Leaders do not trust those that work for them and question their resources in meetings if they don't believe an answer that is given to them.

Cons

Hiring process takes awhile. Took 2 months from when I applied to actually starting to work.
