Cons
No Direct Deposit. - You will not receive competitive pay. Compensation is $10K LESS than anywhere else in the same position. They would pay all employees minimum wage, if they could. They would not give you a lunch, if they could. No Work-Lift Balance. - Supervisors do not care if you have a family. You will be given a hard time if you need to leave for a doctor appointment, and you will be required to make up the time you are gone - Gone for two hours? Make it up by either coming in early, or leaving late. You are required to work 50 hour work weeks for salaried positions and will not be paid overtime. If you miss your 50 hr mark, you will have a conversation with your Supervisor about it and they will threaten termination. Titles (manager/supervisor/etc.) are used to force salaried employees to work 10+ hours a week without overtime pay. This company would make you work on holidays, if they could. Many employees have no choice. PTO means Sick Days, Personal Days, and Vacation Time. - People come in sick to avoid taking days off, causing colds/flu to cycle through office year round. They would provide no time off, if they could. There are zero perks. They don't even give you free coffee. Advancement is a joke. Most VPs are younger and will not be leaving any time soon. Lateral movement happens from time to time, you can move from one position to another in the same department, but you will not make more money. Do not show interest in bettering your position, you will be treated like dirt if they think you want to leave. Do not update your Monster/LinkedIn/Indeed profile; HR will call your supervisor to have a conversation with you about it. Terrible Benefits. The Insurance provided is garbage. High premiums and co-pays for no coverage. Insurance company is also owned by owners of Universal. The management is brainwashed to treat people like garbage. You will be talked down to, treated poorly, you will not be trusted to do your job, and any ideas you have will be shot down, you will not be considered for a promotion. Your ideas will not be heard. They do not care. Don’t even bother to ask about direct deposit. Company would rather pay to relocated a new hire from another state, rather than promote someone who is already familiar with the inner workings of the department. Supervisors will make promises they cannot keep if you show interest in leaving. Witnessed a VP negotiate with a colleague to keep them on board, and then shafted them in the end. First two weeks of your pay will be held, you will not receive a paycheck until the end of your third week of employment. This is so they can dock your paycheck if you use PTO before it is earned. PTO is earned in trimesters. You can work more than half the year and only earn 3 PTO days. Need information from HR? Be prepared to contact them, wait 3 days, contact them again, and then possible get an answer. Need information from Insurance Company? Hah. ah. aha.
