Pros

If you’re in the union, benefits are amazing. The 401(k) matching is high. My most positive experiences were with my direct managers. They went above and beyond to be helpful, kind, understanding, and be a part of the team. They have a huge undertaking with a restaurant that is open from 7am-12am; they are extremely underpaid for all that they do. Additionally, CFO, you are a great person. You are genuine and a treasure.

Cons

There are a lot of unlivable wages being made at the WAC. There is very little job growth within the organization. I got a better job opportunity in a completely different field and was told by someone in upper management that I can always go back to restaurants on the weekends when I don’t make enough money. To that person, I’m just a body that works and should work 7 days a week, apparently. This person wasn't even trying to be rude, those were words of encouragement somehow. As an act of closure, I had requested an exit interview on two different occasions. No one from the several member HR team followed up on this. A large part of their job is to take suggestions, advice, and complaints, and they don’t seem to like doing that extremely important aspect of the position.

Pros

- Most coworkers are kind and camaraderie is strong. - Free lunch. - Good leadership and values strongly emphasized throughout the club.

Cons

- This will (hopefully) be a job before your actual career. There’s a lot of turnover as there’s not really any room for advancement—the club budgets mostly for hosting extravagant galas and events to Seattle’s business elite, not to retaining their employees. - Wealth disparity between employees and customers is vast and growing, so it can be pretty discouraging working there, especially as an hourly wage earner. - Pay is bare minimum and benefits aren’t as great as advertised. - There are prominent suck ups to higher management who then get by with doing little to no work while everyone else is held to strict standards.
