Pros

Mostly incredibly caring, supportive teachers/staff. Great colleagues. Can be a very fun environment. In-house leadership is incredibly kind and caring (though not always entirely effective).

Cons

Central team is in self-inflated with importance, and everyone in the school knows and discusses it. Despite all the resources spent on advertising highly individualized approach to education, their bottom line appears to be all about making money and expanding. They micromanage schools, despite not having actually taught in ages, or set foot in the building in years. They do not know the amount of effort, preparation, energy, and patience that goes into teaching students, so they have no problem increasing teaching hours and decreasing prep time, without ANY concern for how teacher exhaustion affects quality of instruction. And the pay is absurdly sad for such an expensive “highly specialized” school. Student tuition is more per year than many of the teachers are getting paid. This wouldn’t sting as bad if the school status as a “nonprofit” didn’t reveal how much revenue comes in and how much “key employees/officers” make. When top exec is taking home upwards of 677K, yet cuts funds for student events and those that live paycheck to paycheck, there are serious questions about ethics and what their actual mission is.

Pros

Friendly coworkers, prep time built into the day, many resources available to use for students

Cons

-Many teachers hired are not special education certified or are not even licensed teachers -A lot is expected in terms of documentation and communicating with parents, often about topics beyond school -administration is demeaning and cliquey; will openly talk about staff about other employees -students are being prepped for a 4 year college when it is clear many will not go due to disabilities or will get burnt out before it's over -autistic students or students who need behavioral interventions do not get the services they need
